Keto-King Gluten-Free Hamburger Buns

These are the BEST gluten-free hamburger buns I have found so far. They have eggs in them, so they are not vegan.

I found this recipe on YouTube - it's creator is the Keto-King. There is a video link at the bottom of this recipe. I suggest you watch his video to get an idea of how to make these buns.

Yields

4 - 5 buns; depending on size you make them

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup coconut flour
  • ¼ cup almond flour; not almond meal
  • ¼ flax seed meal; ground into powder using a coffee grinder
  • 4 eggs; separate 3 eggs; use whites of 3 eggs, and 1 whole egg
  • Dash sea salt
  • 1 tsp organic apple cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. finely ground psyllium husk powder; use coffee grinder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup water
  • Either sesame seeds or dry onion flakes to top buns

Directions

  1. Add all dry ingredients to a mixing bowl and thoroughly whisk to blend.
  2. Separate three eggs, using only whites, plus one whole egg; whisk to blend.
  3. Add water and apple cider vinegar to eggs and whisk to blend.
  4. Add liquid to dry ingredients, whisk to blend thoroughly, but be careful not to over mix here as it adds air pockets in the buns.
  5. Dough is thick, scoop bun portions onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Carefully shape into round buns using the back of a large spoon, or spatula, or your fingers. The shape you put them into the oven is the shape they will stay.They will puff up nicely when baked.
  6. Top with either sesame seeds or dry onion flakes for an authentic looking and tasting burger bun. Press seeds or flakes gently to dough to stick while baking.
  7. Bake at 350 F. for 50 minutes. Buns will spring gently to the touch when cooked.
  8. Place on rack to cool thoroughly before slicing. Buns have a nice texture, and can be sliced and toasted. Fill with your favorite meatless burger or sandwich fixings and enjoy!
